The event feature talks by Nancy Redfeather and Jan Dean, members of Slow Food Hawai’i.
Nancy Redfeather and Gerry Herbert are the owners of Kawanui Farms, an educational and experimental sustainable mini-farm in the mauka area of Kona. Nancy is a member of the Kona Community Development Plan Agricultural Working Group, and will share their findings and strategies for increasing local food production and food security on Hawai’i Island.
Jan Dean, a member of Slow Food Hawai’i will discuss the mission and work of Slow Food Hawai’i which is deeply involved in fostering sustainability, primarily through edible school gardens, farmer’s markets, and the support of local agriculture.
